Application
Petrammonitis can be used in all mining, quarrying and construction work. It is well suited for use as a column charge in soft rocks with medium and large diameter drill holes. It is a free-flowing product and can be poured directly from the sacks. Pneumatic charging in horizontal, vertical, or inclined drill holes, improves the performance of the explosive.
Petrammonitis has a poor water resistance and is recommended for use only under dry conditions. Bottom charge or a primer with a diameter as close as possible to the drill hole diameter and long enough to ensure stable detonation, should be used to initiate Petrammonitis. The use of detonating cord for initiation is not recommended, as it causes axial initiation. In this case Petrammonitis does not reach a stable velocity of detonation and consequently the reaction is incomplete.
Packaging
Petrammonitis is supplied in waterproof, easy to handle laminated sacks of 25Kg gross weight.
Storage
Petrammonitis should be handled, stored and used according to the national laws and regulations. Because of the high content in ammonium nitrate, Petrammonitis should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. This treatment will reduce the risk of agglomeration caused by humidity and temperature fluctuation around +32°C. Storage up to +60°C is safe. When storing Petrammonitis for a long time, ammonium nitrate prills release some of the oil contained in them.
Consequently, the explosive’s detonating properties deteriorate. Provided that storage conditions are appropriate, it is recommended to use Petrammonitis within 6 months.
Product shelf life expansion can be verified after examined by the supplier.
